Yeah, I'm looking for a way to remove them and still have them on the index.

The shadows are not the problem I think. It might just be the contrast effect on the eyes.
By just using a tile a little bit darker it changes the whole view.
Examples:

Yeah, I love the new look. Now we just have to fix the fucking line space issue, so that there isn't a big space in between everything. It's annoying.

It would be cool to have the welcome block included in the header banner.

I confirm. Making the new links bold makes them hard to discern if all the links already looked like they were bold and had shadows.
Also, some buttons looks different then the other.

I'm almost satisfied with it.
There's a problem with the textarea when it's not focused:
When it should look like that:

The panel menu has a little problem:
When it should look like that:

The order of the menu should be changed to something like:
New Posts|Today's Posts|Search|Control Panel|Mail|Pastebin|Members|Stats|Donate|Help|Log Out
and logout hover should be red instead of cyan.
