On the subject of that "tran state" of mind; I get the same thing!
Very often, I'll be working on a program before I go to bed. After I've lied down for a few minutes, the gears in my mind start churning. Sometimes I'll even have a dream with a solution to a problem, and I have to get up and write it down.
They do say that humans think best while on their backs...
Us guys need to use that ideology to our advantage on those long "study" sessions with our girlfriends/significant others...
