Does anyone tried Symbolics OpenGarena ?? - Hans Hackett - 07-04-2013

Currently I am interested about Lisp machine and may I ask :

1. Can symbolics opengarena 2.0 working on the newer intel x86 architecture ? (( Found that it needs some kind of emulator isn't ?

2. Any... any driver or hardware conflicts ? (( Since lisp machine is designed different from our normal PC

Any response is appreciated, thanks!

1. Yes, it can run on a VM known as VLM(virtual lisp machine).
The files for Open genera 2.0 are available on the internet somewhere, though not perfectly legal.

2. No, since it runs under a VM then there is no problems.

If you however do want to acquire the newer versions of genera, then here's a price list from mr. DKS: http://www.lispmachine.net/symbolics.txt

Also; note that opengenera also runs fine on the DEC alpha platform virtualized by Virtual unix.
The lisp machines used genera.
