Textual is the best IRC client for OS X. You have to pay for the binary but the source is available [here](https://github.com/Codeux/Textual/).
For those who don't have Xcode installed like me, [here](http://paste.xinu.at/LN9rgq/)'s a compiled version(64). It looks like this:  |
