You've got a good point about the exact year, it's not an exact one.
I was pointing that once a person starts to work and enters "real" society instead of their sub-cultures or educational institutions they tend to grow their vision from the "everything is wrong if it's a system let's do a revolution, I don't belong here" mentality to "there are pieces that work and some that don't, but let's not break everything, and I can live well wherever I am". I wasn't implying "giving up progress".
