Well, I’m still using twtxt.
I have to say: twtxt would be confusing as heck if it wasn’t for twtxt.net’s hash extension: https://dev.twtxt.net/doc/twthashextension.html This allows for basic threading, which is, IMHO, very necessary if you have more than a tiny amount of traffic. Without this extension, twtxt is only useful as a platform for “ego trips”, where everyone just posts what they’re doing – and nobody every replies. Threading is not supported by most clients, though … Reading twtxt feeds in mutt: I’m still using my collection of shell scripts to retrieve feeds and turn them into a maildir. Probably not the best code I’ve ever written, but meh. There’s a couple of active users at the moment who post daily, as can be seen by the time stamps in my screenshot. twtxt.net and self-hosting work well together. I don’t even notice if another user is on a twtxt.net pod or if they do self-hosting. (Well, that’s not true, I do notice – because twtxt.net is pretty much the only software that uses the hash extension by default. And without hashes, things get messy real quick.) |
