Don't use LGA 115X for *nix. If you are using Intel on *nix, then LGA 2011 is necessary for your investment to be worth it. Otherwise, I highly recommend the 8350 from AMD. A 4820k and decent motherboard, such as the Gigabyte UD4 X79 (to actually utilize X79 capabilities for memory, PCIe, etc.), would actually allow IOMMU/hardware passthrough/virtualio, etc., which they are phasing out on the mainstream socket as of the past few iterations of hardware.

Whatever you do, do not use a subpar PSU - something oversized does not mean better. 450W is plenty for your system with some aggressive overclocking, as long as the unit has a single +12V rail, with tight load line reg, low ripple, and preferably high efficiency. Connectivity isn't much of an issue, but I'm assuming you will be wanting to expand to at least one other GPU later on, in which case a 650W PSU is ideal in terms of load/lifespan/connectivity - assuming the PSU is of quality enough to merit using it in your rig (those caps need to be 105 C rated).
