That said, I have just (too late) noticed that you mixed up The Hacker News (thehackernews.com) with Y Combinator's Hacker News (which resides on news.ycombinator.com), but that's entirely irrelevant for the subject discussed.

By the way, GNU bc depends on GNU ed since some time in last year if I remember correctly. Ah, the circles.
