My personal issues with Gemini:
  • Conflates alt-text for ASCII-art with programming language indicators.
  • TOFU has nothing to prevent a MITM attack during the initial connection.

IMO, backing TLS with DANE or using something like Yggdrassil or Tor to layer on encryption would be better. I still have a Gemini capsule tho because the community is comfy.

I do like how URLs get their own line, since it encourages people to use descriptive link text and helps break up long blocks of text; both are good for a11y and navigation.
