Hey I got compton working on OpenBSD 5.5
make sure you install gcc 4.8 from pkg_add vi Makefile , remove the line -lrt (as OpenBSD has librt in libc) sudo gmake CC=egcc sudo gmake CC=egcc install good to go! Results - Screenshot to show it working Cheers! (I hope this helps anyone using OpenBSD, and want to use compton)
