we need a mascot.

but instead of having some little gopher with a stick up his ass, how about we choose something more suited for this community?

something simple that doesn't look fuzzy and make us look like we're a college sports team.

my ideas;
- not an animal
- related to our interests
- doesn't need to be recognized by anyone outside of our community (e.g. not some ascii art of stallman eating his toenails)
- simple

I think something simple with a slight hint about our love for *nixes would be the best option.

I like the Mass Effect franchise and to make an homage to it, I propose `toilet --gay -f mono12 n*` as the logo/mascot.

It's got an n in there, it's lowercase, a wildcard and some rainbow colours. Anything goes so long as it's *nix.

I'm ok with the `n*` idea. The hick is that it should look good as an icon first, if it's too detailed it won't be scalable.

But this is not a mascot... A mascot is usually something animated with life (as I see it at least). We should definitely keep the n* idea. But we still need a mascot I think. n* is cool. But as said from z3bra, for me a mascot is also something more than just a symbol.

A grain of rice? named "ricky", "richie" or even "ricy" ?

It is cool, but I think it is too detailled. A mascot/logo needs to be really simple (I like Reddit's mascot for example)

Looks nice ! I really like the star ! The 'n' could be a little shorter I think, maybe the same size as the star?

I quite like it too. Though I would prefer it without the "n" bottom foot.

Nice :D . This is a great logo, but this isn't really a mascot :/

Maybe we could have something like a star with a face or something as the mascot? Perhaps like the glasses on the rice icon above but on a star in front of a smaller n?
