Hello fellow nixers,

This thread is about creating an internet badge that can be inserted in signatures or on websites all around the interwebs to show your nixers affiliation.

I like z3bra's idea, just to use the forum's logo. The glider is too generic.

then why not create something that is a mix between a glider (GoL) and that star, they both use the same colors (at least).

It's not the first time we have brainstorms. It's easy to throw ideas around but once it's time to implement them there's not much content.
We're open for ideas, we submit and vote.

I think he meant a GoL setup that would generate a star, which could be interesting.

bumping -- I'm wanting to link the list of nixers sites as a form of webring on my site and looking for an image to use on the link.

Some potential "internet badges":

All of these look pretty OK, and 3 is probably the most recognizable as it's the favicon and the default profile pic. Maybe we could scale up 3 a little with like waifu2x or something. Or get a proper svg goin

I like the idea, many of us already have a "friends" list on our website linking to each others and this could be a step forward.
As for the internet badge, I'm personally still undecided. Maybe we could offer light/dark/transparent alternatives so that it fits any web designs. I'll try to contact a friend of mine who's a graphic designer to get their idea, that might help as I'm clueless on this topic. Otherwise, we can settle it within the community by majority vote.

We still need to gather ideas and brainstorm though, so keep them coming.

what if the "*" oriented logo had a little circle with a color at each end -- then for example we could give it 8 arms and make the colors map to the ascii colors black through white references here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ANSI_escape_code#Colors -- that might be too messy. we could pastelize them or make them more gray as well.
