I was thinking of a similar scenario.

mailing list?
I'll look into how to setup a mailing list.
If someone wants to offer help and host the service it would be great.
It's always better to have things decentralized.

What about "distributing" the newsletter in RSS format?

+1 to the RSS feed idea. The specs are pretty simple minus the fact it's XML-based.

Sounds good, but updating the feed real-time or every time an email with the curated articles is sent?

Whenever an e-mail is sent. An RSS feed is another way to "subscribe" to it. All things considered, it sounds like an easier way to do this instead of mailing list. Just use a feed reader (CLI clients, on-line clients, and Emacs clients are available). Issuing another post is as easy as updating the feed XML and a subscriber getting is as easy as them checking up on it in their client.

As for the gory details, a feed reader can cache the current contents of a feed for however many minutes long the <ttl> element says so. Once that time's elapsed, the reader will check for any new updates to the source.

If you're up to the task and really prefer an RSS feed, you can do a pull request to the github repo ( https://github.com/nixers-projects/newsletter ), more specifically this script can be updated.

Personally, I prefer emails, they go well with the idea of ephemeral newsletter, and everyone is already doing it this way.
Maybe it's because I've never gotten used to reading anything in RSS feeds and only used it for push notifications.

I don't have much free time but I will try to contribute.
I have some code I written a while ago ( https://github.com/strang3quark/strang3q...nd/rss.php ), I'm using OOP there but I can adapt it to fit the newsletter code if you agree to it.

Edit:
I am taking a look at the code, where do you plan to store the newsletters?
I'm thinking of making a php script to get all those files and output a XML file (the feed).

I've implemented the RSS support, it isn't the prettiest code I ever made but I think it does the job.
You can check the changes here: https://github.com/nixers-projects/newsl...3quark_rss

I've sent the pull request.

I've sent the pull request.
I reviewed it. It's great, just needs a little adjustments.

If you have something to share for the newsletter please send me a PM, or message me on IRC, or hit me up with an email.
The newsletter will be sent every Sunday.
